Cute Lil Ghouls - a Halloween Layout with Missy

Happy Friday, friends!  Missy here today, and I have a fun and festive Halloween layout to share.  I used Shimmerz products from the new Halloween set, which includes two new Coloringz (Freshly Squeezed & Vivacious Violet, two Creameez (Crow's Feet & Lettuce Get Together) and Dazzlerz in Spun Sugar.  I also added in touches of Inklingz Good As Gold.  I was inspired by my daughters' shirts for my color scheme, and I began by creating the word "ghouls" for my big title.

I cut it on my Silhouette Cameo and then painted it before removing it from the cutting mat.  I didn't use a lot of liquid so it didn't harm my mat at all.  I used a brush, my finger to smudge color and the packaging technique to apply the messy color.  I love how it turned out, and it's the perfect title for these photos :)

I used lots of washi tape from my stash to create a frame around my photos and down below them to create a darker background for my title.  I used the same colors behind my photos using the packaging technique and splatters.  The embellishments & one patterned paper came from a really old cheap pack of goodies I found at Walmart a few years ago.

I did a little bit of light background stamping with black ink and some circle stamps just to give it a little more interest.  I also used lots of matching thread.  I thought these stickers & brads were really cute and went with the theme of the page.

Here's the other side of the layout.  I added that purple spider paper under the photos for an extra pop of color against the dark backgrounds of the photos.

Here's one more close-up look at the big title area.  I added some thread under it and then stitched through it all with shiny gold thread.  I smudged some Coloringz A Shade of Gray down below it and then added my journaling.

Here's the top of the can see the stamping, stitching and washi tape.  Sometimes it's fun to combine all kinds of products together :)

Here's my process video if you'd like to check it out...I hope you enjoy and get some inspiration!

Stillness, a layout and a video by Karine

Hi there, Shimmerz fans,

I'm stopping by today to share another layout I created for Shimmerz Paints. Here it is.

I started out with this 7 Dots Studio paper that I covered with clear gesso.

I used sandy texture paste through a stencil, and then, I applied my color. I used two colors: Truffle Spritz and My Bleeding Heart Coloringz. I used some stamps to add more interest to my background.

I didn't have blue flowers, so I used my Deep Blue Sea Vibez and sprayed them. I love the result.

I made a video tutorial to show you my process.

Don't forget to mention my blog if you order! You'll earn free paint!

Autumn-Themed Cards and Video with Jill

Hi everyone! The leaves are changing colors, Halloween is just around the corner, and I'm enjoying this beautiful season of Autumn.  I'm enjoying it so much that I just HAD to make some Autumn-themed cards for this month's Simply Shimmerz-Simply Penny Black Stamping video series.

Watch directly on YouTube HERE
My cards combine two types of paints, Inklingz and Aqua Huez.  Inklingz provide a lovely shimmer and shine while the Aqua Huez, a flat watercolor, give a pop of vibrant color to breath extra life into these classic stamped images.

For my pair of cards I've used the following colors:
Inklingz- Olive U Truly, Blue My Mind, Good as Gold, Ginger Snapped
Aqua Huez- Green With Envy, Pot-O-Gold, Carrots, Cuppa Joy, Little Boy Blue
Card designs feature Penny Black stamps: 30-373 Grateful and 30-372 Autumn Splendor

Thanks so much for watching and visiting today.  And remember, if you plan to place a Shimmerz order, be sure to mention my name (Jill Foster) in the comments section of your shopping cart and the kind folks at Shimmerz will give you a free pot of paint. You can shop HERE.
